Two pilgrims are dead and more are trapped in the Vaishno Devi landslip, as rescue efforts are ongoing.

On September 2, 2024, a landslide near the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district resulted in the deaths of two pilgrims. The landslide occurred at around 2:35 PM near Panchi, roughly three kilometers from the shrine’s Bhawan, and also damaged part of an overhead iron structure. The Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has launched rescue and relief efforts. Concerns remain that other pilgrims may be trapped in the rubble. According to the CEO of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, the disaster management team is on-site to address the situation.
