In a tragic incident, a student from Telangana was reportedly found dead in the United States, with his friends alleging that his body had bullet wounds. The deceased student was identified as G. Praveen. His family stated on Wednesday that the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Praveen was pursuing an MS in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His family was informed by US authorities on Wednesday morning (Indian time). According to his cousin Arun, some of Praveen’s friends claimed that his body had bullet injuries.

There are speculations that Praveen was shot by unidentified attackers at a store, but his family has not received official confirmation regarding the cause of death, Arun said. He also mentioned that Praveen had called his father early Wednesday morning, but the call went unanswered as his father was asleep. His parents are devastated after receiving the tragic news.

The family, originally from Ranga Reddy district near Hyderabad, was informed by US authorities that the exact cause of death would be determined after an autopsy.

Praveen, who completed his B.Tech in Hyderabad, moved to the US in 2023 for his MS. He had visited India in December 2024 and returned to the US in January this year. His family has sought assistance from MLAs and other officials.

This incident follows the recent deaths of two other Indian students from Telangana—one from Khammam in November last year and another from Hyderabad in January—who were also reportedly shot in the US.
