Hotel Jaco has just 20 suites and sits right on Jacó's beach: seven have balconies looking out to the Pacific and the rest overlook the Vegas-style pool, with its cabanas and blue loungers in the middle of the hotel. The beds come up most, along with rooms that are roomy, clean and thoughtfully finished; the pool is described as very clean, and Sea Salt, the restaurant on the sand, gets good words for its food (open 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with happy hour from 5 to 8). There is also a spa with massages, a gym with Rogue weights and a front desk open around the clock.
The thing guests return to most is the welcome: they single out Ramón, Angelica, Rachel and manager Harold by name, always ready to help. The weak spot is logistics: one guest who arrived at 4:00 PM found the room still not ready, with technicians fixing the air conditioning, and a later-than-noon check-out cost an extra $25, so it pays to sort out arrival and departure times ahead. It is on Calle Bribri, a short walk from the center of Jacó, with free parking; rates run from about $75 to over $260 a night depending on the suite and the date.
20 suites on the beach, 7 with balconies over the Pacific and the rest overlooking the pool. Nightly rates from the official booking engine, for 2 adults; they change with date and availability. Check-in 2:00 PM, check-out noon. Free parking, 24-hour front desk, room service and reverse osmosis purified water in every suite.
