Karma is a 100% vegan restaurant that makes almost everything in house —the seitan cutlets, the chickpea patties, the dressings and even the parmesan— with organic and local ingredients whenever possible, and people say its original flavors win over vegans and non-vegans alike. Among the most ordered are the cauliflower wings with buffalo sauce (₡5,500), the chickpea Mexi Burger (₡8,100), the Surfer Bowl with smoked-carrot "salmon" and heart of palm ceviche (₡7,800), the cashew carbonara (₡8,100) and, for anyone missing meat, the Beyond Burger (₡11,000); there are several gluten-free options, kombucha, matcha, lattes with plant milk, smoothies and cocktails, which one visitor calls the best they have had.
It is a small, cozy place with good music, a calm atmosphere and friendly, quick service: dishes come out fresh and made to order, you eat inside or on the sunny terrace and pets are welcome. It is on the second floor of the Il Galeone shopping center, unit 12, on Avenida Pastor Díaz in Jacó. This season it opens from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed on Wednesdays, and menu prices do not include the 13% tax.
