Marea Baja is a buffet-style soda in Jacó, open 24 hours: you pick your food at the counter, with no menu, and everything is ready to serve, so there is almost no wait. The plate always comes with a fresh drink, with different lemonades and refills, and the salad bar is paid separately. People who stop by single out the variety, the low prices, the clean new restrooms, the roomy place and the big shaded parking lot; one visitor even caught soft jazz, a calm vibe for a soda.
Not every visit goes equally well. One returning guest felt breakfast slipped, with dry eggs and toasted, flavorless gallo pinto; another was left without salad although they thought the casado includes it, and found the food reheated and the service curt. One diner whose partner is allergic to shrimp warns that the same spoon served the fish ceviche and the shrimp ceviche, so with a shellfish allergy it is wise to ask how each dish is served. It is 200 meters south of the central school, in Jacó.
