What comes up most about Oz is the people behind the bar and on the floor. Ale (Alejandra) is named in several visits, along with Mariam, Ash, Yuni and Trini, and people describe warm service at any hour of the day or night. The food goes beyond what you'd expect from a bar: the skewers and the beef get singled out, and the menu runs from ceviches, wings and nachos to typical casados and whole fish. The setting mixes screens showing sports, good music and, according to one visitor, live music.
The hotel is upstairs, a few minutes' walk from the beach, on Calle Central in the middle of Jacó, and guests say Rosi, who manages it, guided them throughout their stay and connected them with tours in the area. It isn't flawless: one guest found it expensive for what it is, missed more security (the entrance is just a gate) and noted the pool is separate from the rooms, so you have to cross the street in your swimsuit. The bar opens at 7:00 am and closes at 2:30 am, and menu prices include taxes.
14 rooms with private bathroom for up to 28 guests, upstairs from the bar. Air conditioning, ceiling fan, cable Smart TV, free Wi-Fi, safe box and free parking; private pool. Check-in from noon to midnight, check-out before 11:00 am. No pets and no smoking. Rates by inquiry with the hotel.
