What comes up most is the attention: the instructors stay in the water with you the whole time. Past students name Erly, Gabriel, David, Mario and Jesús, who stayed with one group for the full two hours, and one learned more than standing up on the board: how to read the waves. Beginners say they felt in good hands and left knowing how to surf; one visitor who booked early in the day ended up with what was nearly a private lesson.
The school is on Calle Bohío, at Jacó beach, a beach break with shallow water and small to medium waves, well suited to first-timers. You will see the green tent with the boards lined up on the sand and one visitor says they let them stash their things all day and use the chairs. Two-hour lessons cost US$60 in a group and US$80 private, with packages from 3 to 7 days.
