Cabinas Brisa del Mar is a quiet, family-friendly stay in Playa Hermosa, about 50 meters from the beach with a mini-market 20 meters away. What comes up most is the pool, available at all hours, and the shared kitchen with everything needed to cook; the rooms have air conditioning, hot water, Wi-Fi and a fridge, there is roomy parking and pets are welcome: one guest brought their dogs and felt welcome. It is a place geared to families with kids, a few minutes from Jacó but in a calmer setting.

Opinions are not all alike. Someone who calls it spectacular sits alongside other guests who found the bathroom a bit dirty, the pool small and, in one case, a room with a musty smell and website photos that no longer match the current look, so it is worth checking the room when you arrive. It is on the main road of Playa Hermosa, 50 meters from the Pochotal school, with rooms from US$60 a night.
