Room2Board is a social hostel: solo travelers meet people easily, the pool and the big terrace with a view are what guests enjoy most, and quiet hours are respected. Rooms have air conditioning and the staff is friendly, though communication at reception can be hard in both Spanish and English at times.
Go in with clear expectations. One guest criticized the shared kitchen (small, not very clean) and ants in the room; another says the in-house restaurant menu is pricey and that, for US$95 for a private room with a bathroom, there are nearby places that include breakfast. The location, though, is among the best: between the beach and the center of Jacó.
