At TEMPO every spin class lasts 45 minutes and you ride to the beat of the music. People who have been through the studio talk about the sound system, the playlists, the choreography and how each class has its own vibe. Vanesa is the instructor who comes up most: one pilates client says she has watched her body change since she started going, another took her very first pilates class with her, and a couple on vacation picked her spin class, where the husband, who had never tried it, got hooked. The bikes are Technogym and work with regular sneakers or two-bolt SPD cleats.
Travelers describe it as a find while passing through Jacó, with classes at convenient times and high-energy instructors, and one calls it the best gym in town; you also meet people in class. The studio is on Calle Cocal, above the Ice building, in Jacó. A single class costs US$15, there are 5, 10 and 20-class passes, one month unlimited for US$110 and a monthly resident pass for US$90; classes are booked online and a cancellation under 4 hours or a no-show costs US$5.
Classes open to all levels, on Technogym bikes that work with regular sneakers or two-screw SPD Shimano cleats. Bring water and a sweat towel; phones stay in your bag. Doors open 15 minutes before and after each class and late arrivals are not admitted. The full schedule and booking are on the website.
