Surf and yoga are what people bring up most at School of the World: instructors who are patient but know when you're ready for more (two friends who had never surfed were paddling out past the break on day two) and sunset yoga, with a Vinyasa teacher who pushed the group a little harder each day. Falcon, the director and one of the founders, comes up for the attentive welcome, and some guests have been back six times. Spanish classes are part of the mix, and the school organizes outings to Manuel Antonio National Park, canopy lines and the Valle Encantado waterfalls.
The house is built from bamboo and tropical wood among the plants, and from the rooms all you hear is birds. Guests get a fully equipped kitchen, coffee and water always on hand, a pool, a yoga studio and air conditioning that really cools; rooms run from shared to private, including one for three friends with its own bathroom and kitchen. Everything is within walking distance, bikes can be rented, and the team helps arrange airport transfers. It sits in Jacó.
One program to choose from surf, Spanish, yoga, photography or video. Reference values from the school's price guide (April 2026); exact prices come from the school's trip planner and are subject to change. Check-in is on Sunday and check-out on Saturday; classes run Monday through Friday.
