Hacienda Kitchen is the Marriott Costa Rica brand that explores the roots of Costa Rican cooking, and at Los Sueños it gathers dishes from the former 18&Greene steakhouse and Zoe Mediterranean: carpaccio, ceviches, octopus, tamarind-glazed pork ribs, imported tenderloin, creamy seafood rice, pastas and fish. What comes up most is the care with dietary restrictions: the dinner menu clearly flags gluten and allergens, and the chef checks the details before the dish is prepared; the staff is attentive, especially with children, and the brunch has a good reputation.
The weak spot is the wait: a table of twelve, with two small children, waited 1 hour 20 minutes for the food, and another guest calls the wait something to improve. One diner left less happy: dishes high in salt, tough or raw octopus, limp patacones and prices that seemed high for the quality. It is inside the resort, about 800 meters from the entrance of Herradura; breakfast runs 6:30 to 11:00 AM and dinner 5:30 to 10:00 PM, and mains on the menu range from ₡13,500 to ₡35,000.
